The Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart and sole of any house and this is why I wanted to incorporate as much of the sole of the lorry into it as possible. The worktop is made from the original bed of the lorry and the cupboards are old ammo boxes. I also made kitchen drawers out of old German army ammo boxes, as this lorry served in Germany with the British Army.

The cost of the kitchen was roughly £1100:

  • Fridge £600

  • Cooker £300

  • Sink £30

  • Ammo boxes £70

The worktop was free with the lorry and the carcass for the kitchen was also free as I made it out of old pallet wood left over from the cladding. The door handles were found in my Grandad’s old workshop and the plywood that some of the shelves and a draw out off came from so off cuts from work.

The newest addition to the kitchen is something that i have been working hard on all summer. It has taken a lot of dedication and hard work. I am proud to say that 99% of all the caps were from beers drunk by myself or consumed on one of the lorry beer terrace I would just like to thank everyone that has helped me over that summer.
