Voice over Internet protocol, the conversion of voice and multimedia streams from Internet connections to packets is generally referred to as VoIP. IP technology now enables users to make phone calls from computers, smartphones, tablets phones, and WebRTC-enabled browsers. VoIP is a technology that can be used by both consumers and businesses as it usually has other features that are not available on ordinary phone services. The modes can include a call record function, a self-designed caller ID, and a voicemail-to-email function. Along with it being useful to the organizations as a medium of unification of companies’ communication, it also helps them to set a unanimous voice by which they reach and communicate with their targeted audiences.

It operates the same as a conventional phone, but VoIP uses an internet connection instead of the traditional telephone wires. Technology and methodologies as Networking technologies Internetworking networks Local area networks Wide area networks are those used in the delivery of voice communications over the Internet. The data that is to be sent must first, be converted from the user’s voice from the audio signals to digital format, then be sent through the internet. If the caller is using a normal phone, the signal is converted back to a telephone signal before it reaches the user.

On the other hand, IP telephony can also provide routing, both incoming and outgoing, by using the phone circuits that are already in place. On the other hand, a few VoIP services could function only through a computer or a special VoIP phone exclusively.

    VoIP in unified communications:

As VoIP transforms different communication tools into one system, everyone can benefit from the single unified system that exerts several audio, video, or text-based communications. This is something that may prove particularly important for businesses as teams are free to exchange information within the company without needing to install third-party applications to keep pace with modern communication methods.

VoIP works this way by allowing users to make calls and hold web conferences using computers, smartphones, or any other mobile devices.

VoIP telephone equipment There are two main types of VoIP phones:

    hard-phoning and soft-phoning (hardware-based and software-based).

    ●       A VoIP hardware-based phone has similar looks to a traditional hard ligne telephone and is equipped with similar features including a speaker and a microphone.

    ●      The computers or mobile devices that run the software-based IP phones are called softphones. The softphone interface can be equivalent to the traditional handset with a pad and a display showing the caller’s name.

What are the pros of VoIP?

    ●      The price is more affordable than average phone bills.

    ●      the midrange tones are more well maintained without the slightest diminution in sound and They are uniformly distributed across the sound source. Access for remote workers.

    ●      New features consist of call recording, queues, custom caller ID, or voice-to-email to name a few. Low international rates.

    Which drawbacks do VoIPs present?

VoIP services could nonetheless have several drawbacks despite these benefits:

    ●      There may be a delay in connecting all of these services to emergency services directly.

    ●      Fast internet access is required for VoIP. In the event of a power outage, services will not function.

    ●      Depending on the VoIP provider, directory help might be lacking.
